How did the switch from DVS to etnies come about?
etnies looked like the future.

How and when did you start skating?
I moved into a place across the street from Ed Templeton when I was 8...got serious after that.

Do you remember what your first setup was?
A banana board.

Who were you skating with back then?
Ed Templeton, Erik Estrada, Dyrek Roach.

Who were the any early influences on your skating?
Gonz and Neil Blender.

Who/what inspires you now?
Nature and Conor Oberst.

Before you discovered skateboarding, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Mikal Baryshnikov (ballet dancer).

You aren't too known for skating in contests. When and how did you realize that skating contests wasn't for you?
Its not art. I feel like contests are a race. I'm too old to speed up time.

What might it take to make you actually enter a contest again?
etnies to pay me more money.

What do you enjoy most about being a pro?
Hotels.

What's something about being pro that you didn't anticipate would happen before you were pro?
Hating skateboarding.

Is anything bad about being a pro? What are the downsides?
Hurry up and sit in a van all day.

What do you think of skate videos these days?
I don't.

You hit spots a lot differently than most skaters, do you look for a different way to hit stuff, or does that just come naturally? You seeing things kinda differently?

How does it feel to be part of the etnies team now? Is there anyone in particular you are stoked to be on the team with?

Nearly everyone rode a pair of etnies at one time or another while they were young, do you remember your first pair of etnies?

Being into a band and then meeting them and them telling me they used to skate.

I dunno, I'm in Miami.

What are the main perks of living in NYC for you over the West Coast?
I don't drive a car. I like trains, bars and street life.

One helped raise me and the other finished the job.

Skateboarding.
