Sheck Mania Continues!
Posted by: Brink | Sunday, August 31, 2008
Aside from him killing Thrasher's Bust or Bail contest this weekend, did you know you can enter for a chance to win an afternoon with Ryan Sheckler? Did you see this TransWorld video behind the scenes at a recent Sheckler signing? Have you seen FKD's X Games clip? How about all the Dew Tour footy on Ryan's personal site? If not, don;t call yourself a Sheckler fan! Ok, you still can... but just tell 'em you got all the dirt here.
Sheckler wins Bust or Bail!
Posted by: Brink | Saturday, August 30, 2008
Well, etnies pretty much owned the Thrasher Bust or Bail contest this afternoon in San Fransisco. Ryan Sheckler showed up and took first (backlip, backlip to fakie, tre flip, hardflip and backside flip the 16 stair) with our flow rider, Andrew Langi, taking the rail route and landing in third (crooks, feeble, nosegrind, front blunt to fakie).
Congrats, boys! Lets show Andrew a little blog love, shall we? Here's a sequence from Maloof and a pic of just one of many cute Langi fans. Stay tuned for updates on video footage!

Posted by: Alex | Monday, August 25, 2008And he's back in the game... Sheckler just claimed his his second win of the 2008 Dew Tour. The good folks of Portland were treated to an undeniable comeback (after injury left Sheckler with a 7th place finish in Cleveland) culminating in a big fat final winning score of 90.1! Remember Phil Shao...
Posted by: Brink | Sunday, August 24, 2008
In honor of Phil Shao, on the anniversary of his passing today, Slap and Thrasher posted some goodness...
After you read this, go skating... because you never know when you won't be able to anymore. And while you're skating, skate for the people who can't, because that's what they'd want you to do.
Also, check out Phil ripping in etnies High 5, from 2005, when you get a minute. He's got a killer backside 180 at about 2:19 in this clip!

Two more birthdays!
Posted by: Brink | Thursday, August 14, 2008
Yes, two more birthdays this week... tomorrow, actually. First, the one and only Kyle Leeper! I'm guessing he's out in Carlsbad skating flatground or mini ramp somewhere, with his dogs running around chasing him. It makes him happy. Regardless, enjoy it, Kyle!
Secondly, my favorite Austrian, Dominik Dietrich is celebrating his too. And I randomly bumped into him in San Diego last week, but had no camera on me to get bloggy with him. But if he's in the States, you can bet he's down at Zero ripping the TF and lovin' life. Happy birthday, Dom!

Win etnies shoes & Stalefish!
Posted by: Brink | Monday, August 11, 2008
Our good friend, Sean Mortimer, has a new book out and we are giving a few copies away along with some free etnies shoes!
About Stalefish:
How is professional skateboarding different from, say, professional golfing? More scabs, for one. And is skateboarding actually a sport? In Stalefish, veteran journalist and former sponsored skater Sean Mortimer interviews Rodney Mullen, Steve Olson, Tony Hawk, Stacy Peralta, Jamie Thomas, Lance Mountain, Tommy Guerrero, Mike Vallely, Dave Hackett, Daewon Song, Jim Fitzpatrick, Steve Alba, Kevin Harris, Bob Burnquist and Chris Haslam search of answers, and to discover what drove them and millions of disenfranchised youth to obsession with empty pools, sewer ditches and handrails. This book may not settle the sport versus subculture versus cult debate, but with stories of skate-induced ulcers, skatepark torture, ramp arson, trespassing, the birth punk and more, it captures like other how skateboarding can derail your life in a beautiful way.

Sean Mortimer was a sponsored skateboarder in the late ’80s. He is the former editor of SkateBoarder magazine and the author of HAWK Occupation: Skateboarder with Tony Hawk and The Mutt: How to Skateboard and Not Kill Yourself with Rodney Mullen. He lives in Southern California.

A classic collection of skateboarding lore and legend straight from the heart of icons created it.”
– Juice magazine
“Skateboarding’s formative years and milestones eroded before they were documented. Stalefish captures those stories in a way skateboarders old and new can relate to. A necessary book.”
– TransWorld SKATEboarding
So how do you win? Easy. Best three comments about why you love or hate to read win. First place gets a free pair of etnies shoes and a copy of Stalefish signed by Tony Hawk, Dave Hackett, Kevin Harris, Lance Mountain, Rodney Mullen and Mike Vallely. Second and third place still get a book and shoes, just no autographs. Good luck!

Rune Maloof Footage!
Posted by: Brink | Wednesday, August 6, 2008ESC 2008!
Posted by: Brink | Wednesday, August 6, 2008More than 500 skateboarders from far, far away galaxies are expected to invade the Kunschti from the 7th to the 10th of August 2008 to roll and thunder through the streets of Basel for four days. They will discover smooth surfaces in the urban atmosphere to kickflip and ollie and grind and take over Basel and then maybe the entire planet. To welcome them, etnies and Carhartt have created a brand new streetcourse built by the force of IOU-Ramps and lots of local help to transmit a true vision of street skateboarding for the 8th edition of the European Skateboard Championships. The transmission continues also in the miniramp, where the European skateboarders and local heroes showcase their talents in the transition. For the youngsters, the Junior Champs are on the schedule again on Thursday, as well as the Girl’s Jam for the girls in street on Sunday.
An accompanying program of music, and celebration orbits the 8th edition of the ESC and more information will soon be decrypted on www.skateboardeurope.com The European Skateboard Championship is for Europeans only and this year only we authorised to accept the participation of extraterrestrial inhabitants with a valid transportation card and welcome them with a 50% off the inscription fee. Please inform us up front about any extraordinary menu wishes.
etnies riders attending the event are Dominik Dietrich, Juergen Horrwarth, Axel Cruysberghs, Charles Collet and Conhuir Lynn.

Rune Superpark Video!
Posted by: Brink | Monday, August 4, 20083 More Sheckler Bangers...
Posted by: Brink | Monday, August 4, 2008If I were you, I'd be watching this last trick 'til my monitor burns out... This was a little taste of Ryan Sheckler winning the X Games on Friday. I think he even surprised himself a bit... and that's no dis.
Rune Wins Superpark Gold!
Posted by: Brink | Sunday, August 3, 2008
It was only a few hours ago that I wished Rune Glifberg good luck in X Games 14 Superpark, due to a busted shoulder. Well, it seems the Great Dane marched on and won that thing by a mile, proving once again that he is one of the greatest, if not the greatest, all-terrain skateboarders of all time. Kinda makes you forget he wasn't in yesterday's Vert finals, doesn't it? Congrats Rune on your first (and long overdue) X Games gold medal.

Rune qualifies first in Superpark! Busted shoulder!
Posted by: Brink | Sunday, August 3, 2008
- This is Rune qualifying first in Superpark.
In typical Rune Glifberg fashion, he qualified first yesterday in X Games Superpark... the finals are this afternoon... but there's a catch. After the Superpark qualifiers, Rune entered the Vert finals and absolutely smashed his shoulder on a gnarly slam, pretty much knocking him out of Vert for the afternoon, but hopefully he's is taking care of that shoulder and will be able to go all out for Superpark finals today. Good luck Rune!

- Crooks before the slam...

- Owwwwwww.

- This was after the slam. Pretty impressive if you ask me.
I knew it...

When Sheckler backside flipped and tre flipped this roof gap first try in the finals, the gold medal was pretty much in the bag...

Thrashin' Thursdays!
Posted by: Brink | Friday, August 1, 2008
Blink an eye and you might miss 'em... but Mikey, Malto and Bledsoe have clips in today's Thrashin' Thursdays at The Berrics.
Sheckler Qualifies First at X Games 14!
Posted by: Brink | Friday, August 1, 2008Ryan Sheckler was on fire today. That's all there is to say. Here's a little taste. He moves on to skate against Chris Cole and the four dudes under him from the qualifiers. Good luck, Sheck!
If it was any other event, Sean Malto probably would've made the cut, since he was 9th and they usually pick top 10. But today they only took five... Malto ripped anyway. Check the BSNBS in that clip up there...

- Sheckler eats a salad grind 180 out...

- Malto has the best front crooks in the biz.
