Leeper & Malto Interviews!
by: Brink | Wednesday, July 30, 2008

In case you didn't get a hold of 'em, or are just too damn broke or lazy to go pick up a copy, you can at least see Malto's Slap interview here and Leeper's interview from The Skateboard Mag here. But you really should be out supporting the mags... they rule.
Sheckler Charity Golf Tournament!
by: Brink | Tuesday, July 29, 2008

Together with Wasserman Media Group, pro skateboarder Ryan Sheckler will host the debut of the Ryan Sheckler X Games Celebrity Skins Classic to be held Tuesday, July 29, at the Trump National Golf Course in Palos Verdes, California as part of the mission of Sheckler's non-profit organization, The Sheckler Foundation. In addition to Sheckler's foundation, four other charities will be benefiting from the proceeds of the tournament. ESPN has been involved with and supported all four charities over the years. As part of this event, ESPN will be donating its skins to the Athlete Recovery Fund.
"I've always had a desire to help the kids who support me in my career and may not have had the same opportunities that I did," said the X Games multi-gold medalist, Ryan Sheckler. "I have reached a point where I have the ability to give back, and I'm honored to have such a great response for this tournament from my professional colleagues and friends."
Celebrities and their foursomes will tee off for an18-hole tournament and players will be pitted against one another in match play for the opportunity to win a $10,000 skin for the charity of their choice on each hole. Players will also take part in a putting contest for additional prizes with an awards ceremony and dinner to follow in the evening.
"We have been fortunate to have Ryan Sheckler compete in the X Games since 2003, and we're excited to partner with him and the Wasserman Media Group to benefit a number of charities devoted specifically to action sports," said Chris Stiepock, general manager and vice president, X Games franchise. "We look forward to growing this tournament into an annual X Games tradition for years to come."
Celebrities and Athletes
Anthony Anderson, Audrina Patridge, Kendra Wilkinson, Kevin Federline, Brody Jenner, Verne Troyer, Mia Hamm, Vicki Hurst, Bode Miller, Baron Davis, Carey Hart, Kevin Robinson, Cris Judd, Sal Masekela, Mason Aguirre, Jamie Bestwick, Ricky Carmichael, Chad Kagy, Eric Koston, Jeremy McGrath, Kevin Robinson, JJ Thomas, Travis Pastrana, and Dave Mirra will all take to the course with Ryan to raise money for a number of charitable organizations including Ryan's own.
The Charities
Charities benefiting from this tournament include Wings for Life, which funds scientific research into spinal cord injuries; Road 2 Recovery, which provides financial assistance to seriously injured motocross and supercross athletes and their families; The Athlete Recovery Fund, an organization which provides financial support for injured BMX, Moto and Skateboard athletes; and Boarding for Breast Cancer, a non-profit, youth-focused organization that works to create awareness about the disease.
About The Sheckler Foundation
The Sheckler Foundation was founded as an avenue for Ryan Sheckler, his family, friends and business associates to give back to the community and industry that they are so grateful to. The community is mostly comprised of children and their parents, who as his fans buy his products, attend his events, and watch his show. The industry is comprised of numerous action sports athletes and companies who have helped Ryan achieve monumental success. It was his ultimate desire to form a foundation that could contribute to many causes that directly benefit and enrich the lives of children. It is also his desire to support and fund programs that help action sports athletes who are injured in their line of work.

This One's For My Vegans...
by: Alex | Tuesday, July 22, 2008
Where my vegans at?! This one's for you.
So you wanna know which of our shoes are vegan? Lots of you have asked, and while I do enjoy spending my time sending the same email over and over... and over... it's YOUR time that I don't wanna waste. As such, we've added a new little vegan symbol to the site. Now you can browse all our footwear and rest assured that anytime you see that symbol underthe product description, it's totally animal-free and friendly.

Of course, it'll be smaller than that... more like this.
Here's a big fat list of our vegan shoes for Fall, but for future seasons and while perusing our fine wares, don't forget that the materials, and thus vegan-ness, vary between colorways of the same shoe so be sure to click each color. Thanks for caring about the beef!

Sheckler 4th @ Maloof Money Cup!
by: Brink | Monday, July 14, 2008

Congratulations to Ryan Sheckler for his 4th place finish at the Maloof Money Cup this weekend! Don't go thinking 4th is a load of crap either... Sheck was only 4th to some of the best... that's Cole, P-Rod, and Nyjah, who also all crushed it. But Sheck, despite a busted elbow and droves of ravenous young ladies and MTV camera crews swarming him, ripped hard. Just check the photos. Even the haters were givin' props. The kid threw down! Stay tuned for more photos and video soon!

PS. Rune Glifberg didn't place but skated hard as usual... and he's still #1 in the World Cup rankings, just so ya know! So here's a bonus Rune photo for good measure. Yeah Rune!

Malto Rune & Ronnie killed it!
by: Brink | Sunday, July 13, 2008
Malto didn't make it to the finals tomorrow but still ripped so hard today. Take, for example, this 16-stair backside overcrooks:

Ronnie Creager is still getting back on track from his surgery last December, but he still came out and put on a good show. Switch frontside flip!

Rune Glifberg was ripping as always and will be in the vert finals tomorrow!

Stay tuned for tons more video, photos and sequences from Maloof Money Cup in the coming week!
Sheckler Deeestroyed Maloof!
by: Brink | Sunday, July 13, 2008

Jacked elbow or not, Sheckler killed it today and advanced to the finals tomorrow for his chance at 100Gs!. Check out the 16-stair backsmith and kickflip back tail, y'all! Like butter. Good luck, Ryan!

Malto Advances!
by: Brink | Saturday, July 12, 2008
With moves like these this afternoon at Maloof Money Cup, Sean Malto earned himself the right to the semi-finals tomorrow! Congrats and good luck, Sean!

by: Alex | Friday, July 11, 2008

Best Male Action Sports Athlete
Choice TV Male Reality Star
Celebrity Reality Show
MySpacer Award
I'm sure TONS of kids are already voting for him, but voter apathy doesn't help anyone... except maybe the Kardashians if they end up winning instead. So head on over to TeenChoiceAwards.com and vote!

Maloof Money Cup Practice with Malto!
by: Brink | Thursday, July 10, 2008

I headed down to the Maloof Money Cup course yesterday and guess who showed up? Maltooooooooooooo! He put a board together and his wheel fell off. Didn't stop him from landing this three-wheeled line though. Totally intense!
Stay tuned for more from the Maloof Cup! Check the course!

etnies In Pamplona, Part 2
by: Alex | Wednesday, July 9, 2008
Here's another shot of our participation in this year's Running Of The Bulls. I think it really says something that from either angle, and even in all the bull thumping, stampeding chaos, this dude's etnies stand out like a white shining beacon of hope. I'm pretty sure that's what it's all about, right?

Uh oh... Sheck's elbow...
by: Brink | Wednesday, July 9, 2008

This just in from Skateboard.com:
SHECKLER BREAKS HIS ELBOW
Professional Skateboarder and Reality TV Star, Ryan Sheckler, has broken his arm just 4 days before the richest contest skateboarding has ever seen. Sheckler was favored by many for the $100,000 first place prize. According to our source, Ryan’s elbow has “been dislocating really easy and today they couldn’t get it back without a lot of work and pressure. He has multiple fractures in the elbow. Mobility is limited but he is refusing a cast at this time so that he can skate in the contest.”
Ryan experienced a similar injury last year while skating the AST Vans Invitational. Greg Lutzka ended Ryan’s four in-a-row winning streak when Ryan broke his other elbow during the contest and ended up taking second place. And just like last year, Ryan won’t let his injury stop him from skating the upcoming Maloof Money Cup.

The 18 year old celebrity begins filming Season 3 of his hit MTV show, Life of Ryan, this week with premiering episodes airing in the next couple of months. The third season is said to be based on skateboarding, parties, contest and friends, rather than the family drama seen in previous seasons.
Best of luck to Ryan for a speedy recovery and hopefully it won’t drastically affect is ability at this weeks contest.
Watch Ryan tough through his injury and give everything he’s got for Maloof Money Cup this weekend, July 11-13th.
Tyler's bangin'! 405 guy is back! Malto boards! Maloof!
by: Brink | Wednesday, July 9, 2008

Okay, there's a lot going on and I'm trying to gear up for this Maloof thing, so lets make this quick:
First of, Tyler Bledsoe is Bangin!
Secondly, remember when etnies 405 guy shut down the freeway on Go Skateboarding Day? Well, he's back and badder than ever!
Malto has a few pro models in the new Girl catalog that you should go buy.
Speaking of Maloof Money Cup, here's what our VP of Marketing and ex-freestyle phenom, Don Brown, has to say about it...

Maloof Cup this Weekend! Find Me & Be VIP!
by: Brink | Sunday, July 6, 2008
Sean Malto, Ronnie Creager, Ryan Sheckler, Rune Glifberg and some of our ladies will be competing in this weekend's Maloof Money Cup. Seriously, this contest is gonna be bonkers. Get there if you can. And if you can't, watch it live on Skateboard.com.

- Step up!
So check this out... not only do we own the entire etnies Festival Village during the Maloof Cup, but we have a little contest to hook you up! However, we don't have much time to do it, so here's the deal:
If you are at Maloof Cup this weekend, you have the chance to win an etnies backpack full of etnies gear AND two Friends & Family VIP passes for exclusive access to some of the spots most people won't be able to get to... including lots of free food from Carls Jr. and perhappppppps the opportunity to meet the pros!

- Hubbas!
What do you have to do?
Easy. Find me. My name is Rob Brink. I'll be at the contest all weekend shooting photos and covering the event.
The first person to rocking at least one piece of etnies gear to find me at the Maloof Cup gets the prizes! Simple concept. Perhaps challenging, but not impossible. Since I'll be working, I might make you run and get me a cup of tea or something like that, but it's sooooo worth it! Consider it on-the-job experience. You can put it on your resume.
Need some clues? I might be holding a big camera or texting people on my Blackberry. Start clickin, readin' & researchin'! Good luck and I'll see you there!
ESC '08!
by: Brink | Saturday, July 5, 2008
More than 500 skateboarders from far, far away galaxies are expected to invade the Kunschti from the 7th to the 10th of August 2008 to roll and thunder through the streets of Basel for four days. They will discover smooth surfaces in the urban atmosphere to kickflip and ollie and grind and take over Basel and then maybe the entire planet. To welcome them, etnies and Carhartt have created a brand new streetcourse built by the force of IOU-Ramps and lots of local help to transmit a true vision of street skateboarding for the 8th edition of the European Skateboard Championships. The transmission continues also in the miniramp, where the European skateboarders and local heroes showcase their talents in the transition. For the youngsters, the Junior Champs are on the schedule again on Thursday, as well as the Girl’s Jam for the girls in street on Sunday.
An accompanying program of music, and celebration orbits the 8th edition of the ESC and more information will soon be decrypted on www.skateboardeurope.com The European Skateboard Championship is for Europeans only and this year only we authorised to accept the participation of extraterrestrial inhabitants with a valid transportation card and welcome them with a 50% off the inscription fee. Please inform us up front about any extraordinary menu wishes.
etnies riders attending the event are Dominik Dietrich, Juergen Horrwarth, Axel Cruysberghs, Charles Collet and Conhuir Lynn.
