Team Update Madness!
by: Brink | Tuesday, July 31, 2007

There's been a bit goin' on lately so I thought I'd just put it all together in one big update...
Apart from winning yet another contest in Rotterdam last weekend, Rune Glifberg has a rather awesome interview in The Skateboard Mag #42. Unfortunately, I didn't do the interview, but there's a bunch of other in there I did do.
EXPN has a little democracy goin on over at their site and you should go vote for Ryan Sheckler.
Ronnie Creager is about to embark on Thrasher's King of the Road tour with the Blind team, so good luck to all involved there. Also, he's scheduled to be at the Manny Mania finals in NYC soon. After winning Lord of the Lines at ASR last year, we think he can take it.

Arto Saari is featured in the current issue of Vancouver's Color magazine, so check that one out if you can get your hands on it. Congrats again to Arto for kicking ass in Rotterdam this weekend!
The Tony Hawk Secret Skatepark Tour movie is premiering in LA this week, so if you can finagle you way to see that thing, go for it! If not, here's the trailer!

The 11th Hour
by: Brink | Monday, July 30, 2007
The following is a letter from Leonardo DiCaprio about the new upcoming film, The 11th Hour, that features Sole Technology, etnies and etnies owner and president, Pierre Andre Senizergues. Stay tuned for more info and eco-tips in the etnies Seed Project blog soon!
Friends,
I am writing to tell you about my new environmental film, “The 11th Hour.” The film documents the environmental crises we face and the solutions we must begin to implement.
Please take a look at the above.
With the help of over fifty of the world's most prominent thinkers and activists, including reformer Mikhail Gorbachev, physicist Stephen Hawking, and Nobel Prize winner Wangari Maathai, “The 11th Hour” documents the grave problems facing the planet's life systems. Global warming, deforestation, mass species extinction, and depletion of the oceans' habitats are all addressed.
However, the most powerful element of “The 11th Hour” is not a portrait of a planet in crisis, but an offering of hope and solutions. The film ends with a call for restorative action through reshaping human activity.
“The 11th Hour” is opening on August 17th in New York and Los Angeles. On the 24th it opens in other cities, and in the following weeks across the country. It would be great if you could go see it and bring a friend. You can go to www.11thhouraction.com to get more information on the movie and when it will play near you.
We need the message of this movie to hit as far and wide as possible.
The hope is us. Let's begin.
Thank You,
Leonardo DiCaprio
P.S. Please feel free to use the code to embed the trailer on your website!

Totally Late Coachella Report!
by: Brink | Wednesday, July 4, 2007

- Arto gets trippy

- Arto's life of leisure...
Coachella? Personally I was done with it two years ago when New Order played.
It’s dead hot—like an oven. Some people aren’t built for this weather. You don’t see many polar bears on the beach, you get me? You tend to spend most of your time playing “dodge the sweaty tourist.” I would liken the event itself to a buffet, There’s loads of boss variety but you only have one stomach.
Your mates want to go and see some emo shite, when you couldn't live with yourself if you missed the corpse of Shaun Ryder doing his best to look animated.
The Happy Mondays appease the taxman.
For all my griping, I still attend. Me and Arto got free tickets from gorgeous Goldenvoice employees, Lindsey and Natalie, so it was rude not to go. Ta, girls.

- Ass!
Arto ventured out on a motorbike to meet cosmic vampire hunter and occasional skate photographer Gabe Freeman, somewhere in the desert for some Easy Rider-style action.
I missed all that malarkey due to grown up commitments.
By the looks of the photos, they had a quality adventure. But that’s a different story. Sod’s law, what you Americans would refer to as Murphy’s law. You get free tickets to a show people are paying a shed load for on eBay and miss all the bands you really wanted to see.
So onto the show. I go there Saturday and meet Arto at the hotel. He has the international playboy routine down. Cocktails by the pool and all that.

We swindled a ride to the show from some Japanese disco rockers by telling them we were in a band called Secret Squirrel. Kids… remember, a lie is the truth if you believe it.
At the event we got jockeyed round backstage by Lindsey on a golf cart and played the quality festival game of “point at the celebrity and laugh.” When was the last time you saw Paris Hilton in a golf cart? I didn't even bother to take a photo of her incase my camera got germs.
I can’t really remember the lineup, and I was sulking after missing the Jesus and Mary Chain reunion. So the rest of the bands that were good live were Placebo, Lilly Allen, Air, Explosions in the Sky, Teddy Bears and Manu Chao.

- Arto likes horses
Bands that were rubbish were the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against the Machine and the Good the Bad and the Queen. So, pretty much the best part of Coachella was lurking round backstage with the baby, trying to get into mischief.
And that’s it. I’ll probably eat my words and go back because the lineup is too good to miss most times. It would just be better if it were hosted over a week’s time in nice cool forest.
So yeah, thanks to Goldenvoice’s stellar employees for the free tickets, golf cart rides and daddy juice!

- Friends
Deftones: Round 2!
by: Brink | Tuesday, July 3, 2007

- A Fan and Chino take a high quality cell phone photo!
Deftones in LA were awesome. Different setlist than the San Diego show, better energy, more hyped crowd, media passes worked out, close seats... the whole nine. Check out this 'lil kid running around the stage like mad!
The tour is still goin' and if you haven't gotten tickets yet I would bust your ass to see Deftones before it's too late. don't say I didn't warn you...

- This dude's arm was EXACTLY what I was trying to shoot.

- Moody!

- The high-class VIP buffet!
