Big congrats to Ronnie Creager for taking first place and a check for 10 grand home from ASR in San Diego this weekend at the Matix Lord of the Lines contest! In true Creager form, Ronnie put together technical, difficult and flawless runs to beat out Dennis Busenitz and Joey Brezinski in the finals! Stay tuned for footage and more photos!

GvR '07?!?!

Lake Forest, CA - Today etnies announced that the fourth annual GvR (Goofy vs. Regular) is set for October 4-7, 2007 at the etnies’ Skatepark of Lake Forest. etnies is excited to also announce the first GvR Europe is scheduled for June 15-17, 2007 at the Prissick Skatepark in Middlesbrough, United Kingdom! The winner of each stance at GvR Europe will earn a wildcard spot at GvR in the U.S.
GvR brings together the best professional skateboarders in the world aligned by their stance, either Goofy foot or Regular foot, in the ultimate battle for stance supremacy. After going down in 2004, Goofy came back and took the GvR title in 2005, spearheaded by 2005 MVP and etnies’ pro, Ronnie Creager. The Goofies took their second victory in 2006 led by Jereme Rogers. The series is now 2-1, with the Goofies leading going into 2007. Will Regular return with a vengeance, repeating the sheer annihilation of Goofy as they did in ’04, or will team Goofy hold it down with a third win?

Tampa Am and the etnies Thrasher tour was a blast. Dominic Dietrich ended up making it to the semifinals and landed in 29th place. Not too bad out of over 250 skaters, huh? Conhuir and Fletcher ripped it too but didn't make the cut. Stay tuned for video and photo galleries of them all soon.
Tonight, as you can see, we spent the evening cleaning out the tour van, playing soccer, eating spaghetti and other assorted nonsense...

That's right, today I'll be heading down to Tampa for SPoT's annual Tampa Am contest. Most of the team is already down there on a Thrasher tour. Word is that Javier Mendizabal, Cliché pro and etnies Euro rider is ripping hard and Elissa, Dill and Arto are there too. This year, etnies riders Elissa Steamer and Conhuir Lynn both landed a spot on the much respected and very impressive Zero skateboards team. Doesn't get much more legit than that, does it? It was also Zero's 10th anniversary year, so we asked them to send over a box of stuff to give away to y'all…and they did! Then, a short while later, we discovered that Conhuir Lynn left his Zero product box here at the etnies offices when he flew back to Ireland after GvR! Too bad for him, because now we just have more Zero stuff to giveaway for this contest!
Prizes include: Zero decks, wheels, stickers, tees, hoodies, hardware and bearings. etnies shoes, stickers, tees, belts belt buckles and DVDs, along with other assorted things we found in the team van after GvR, like: a dreadlock wig, sweaty used hats and tee shirts from Conhuir Lynn and Eric Fletcher themselves, a battery operated back massager, a lighter and whatever other randomness we scrounged up. As you can see in the photo, there’s even a half-eaten sandwich! As you know, Ryan turned 17 last week. He and Paul Rodriguez had a dual birthday bash at the Key Club in Los Angeles. I was busy freezing and skating indoor parks in NJ for the holidays and missed it like a dumbass. But check back for photos from our trusty team manager and check out VitalSkate for pics! Speaking of P-Rod, could Sheck be his new teammate on Plan B? Don't see his name on Almost's site anymore... We'll keep you posted on any official words that come our way.
