etnies & Deftones Contest!

by: Brink | Tuesday, December 26, 2006

snw

The long-awaited follow-up to 2003’s Deftones is deceptively tuneful and alarmingly heavy, see-sawing between melancholy reflection and jaw-clenching frustration like a manic depressive refusing his meds. Saturday Night Wrist incorporates disparate elements of hard rock, heavy metal, punk, classic, alternative and electronic music within its tumultuous grooves.

Overall, Saturday Night Wrist is experimental and innovative, it overflows with undeniable hooks, which serve as reminders that first and foremost, Deftones will always be about strong, emotionally resonant songs. Today’s Deftones have emerged stronger, smarter and more excited as a result of their experience. The end result of that is Saturday Night Wrist.

esp

To celebrate the new Deftones album, etnies and the band are holding a contest to giveaway an ESP guitar signed by the band, free etnies shoes, pink Nokia cell phones and more! All you have to do is fill out this form and we will choose the three lucky winners soon! Good luck!

etnies and SHUT Celebrate Being Skateboarder-Owned and Operated Since 1986!

Lake Forest, CA - With so many big businesses having infiltrated skateboarding over the years, remaining skateboarder-owned and operated is a challenge these days. However, etnies and SHUT Skateboards have remained skateboarder-owned and operated since 1986. To celebrate their 20 year anniversary, etnies and SHUT decided to have some fun together and created the limited-edition etnies SHUT Rap-High, and a limited-edition Pierre André SHUT skateboard deck.

In 1978 Pierre André went to watch a pro demo by the Eiffel Tower where he saw Jeremy Henderson perform tricks that would change his life forever.

Since that demo, Pierre André had a remarkable professional skateboarding career and launched etnies in the USA, supporting the skateboarding scene and industry since the beginning. Jeremy and Pierre did not meet again until few years ago in New York City. It was then that Pierre discovered Jeremy was part of the SHUT Skateboards legacy—a company also celebrating their 20 year anniversary in 2006.

“With a common passion and love for skateboarding it was an honor for me to be able to celebrate this 20 year milestone with someone that was an inspiration and legacy to me since the beginning,” said Pierre André Senizergues, owner and CEO of etnies.

To celebrate 20 years of keeping it skate, etnies and SHUT hosted a party on Friday, Dec. 8 at the etnies Showroom in New York City. The Gonz, John Grigley, Bruno Musso, Leo Fitzpatrick, Jamie Reyes, Neckface, Ty Evans, Felix Arguelles, Jereme Rogers, Zered Bassett were among the many heads that were in attendance. Check out all the party pics on the photo gallery!

Last Chance For The THP8 Contest!

by: Brink | Thursday, December 21, 2006

Tony Hawk’s Project 8™—so real, you don’t just skate it…you feel it.
Reengineered from the ground up for Sony and Microsoft’s next-generation consoles, Tony Hawk’s Project 8™ immerses players in the definitive skateboarding experience using ultra-realistic graphics, enhanced physics and extremely responsive controls that simulate the feeling of skating with every trick and bail. The game hits stores in November 2006 and is available on PlayStation3, Xbox360, PlayStation2, Xbox and PSP.

etnies is celebrating the release of the much anticipated and exceptionally wonderful Tony Hawk’s Project 8™ video game with a contest! Why are we so psyched about it? Well it seems our very own Mr. Ryan Sheckler is featured in the game, so are his shoes and plenty of other etnies gear…and that gets us hyped! So if you decide to enter (and you’d be a fool not to) and if you are one of seven lucky winners, not only will you get a free copy of Tony Hawk’s Project 8™ but you’ll get a free pair of etnies Sheckler shoes to boot! All you gotta do is fill out the form! Good luck!

etnies/Zero Giveaway!

by: Brink | Wednesday, December 20, 2006

zeroprizes
A lot of stuff...doesn't even include the etnies shoes!

This year, etnies riders Elissa Steamer and Conhuir Lynn both landed a spot on the much respected and very impressive Zero skateboards team. Doesn't get much more legit than that, does it? It was also Zero's 10th anniversary year, so we asked them to send over a box of stuff to give away to y'all…and they did! Then, a short while later, we discovered that Conhuir Lynn left his Zero product box here at the etnies offices when he flew back to Ireland after GvR! Too bad for him, because now we just have more Zero stuff to giveaway for this contest!

Prizes include: Zero decks, wheels, stickers, tees, hoodies, hardware and bearings. etnies shoes, stickers, tees, belts belt buckles and DVDs, along with other assorted things we found in the team van after GvR, like: a dreadlock wig, sweaty used hats and tee shirts from Conhuir Lynn and Eric Fletcher themselves, a battery operated back massager, a lighter and whatever other randomness we scrounged up. As you can see in the photo, there’s even a half-eaten sandwich! We can’t guarantee what you will walk away with, but rest assured each selected winner will get at least one free pair of etnies shoes, one Zero Deck, and another miscellaneous goodie or two from us! Enter now!

etnies Holiday Festival!

by: Brink | Monday, December 18, 2006

shek xmas
Sheck & a fan!

Pierre André Senizergues, owner and CEO of etnies, hosted etnies’ third annual Holiday Festival at the etnies Skatepark of Lake Forest and 569 needy kids were given free etnies shoes! The entire Sole Technology Crew along with Santa, Mrs. Claus and actor Joaquin Phoenix came out to ring in the holiday season and hook the kids up with new etnies. The celebration also marked the third anniversary of the skatepark and a generous donation from Pierre Andre of $30,000 to keep the etnies Skatepark of Lake Forest FREE for another year was announced!

“Growing up in Paris, I couldn’t afford to go to a skatepark, said Pierre Andre. “So, I told myself if I ever had the opportunity to provide kids a free environment to skate I would do whatever it takes to support them and skateboarding!”

The following pros came out, skated, signed autographs for the kids and supported the cause:

• etnies: Ryan Sheckler, Ronnie Creager and Lauren Perkins
• éS: Rick McCrank, Justin Eldridge and Danny Garcia
• Emerica: Leo Romero and Austin Stephens

Fun times were had by all and etnies is proud to be a part of something so meaningful to the community and looks forward to the years to come. Check out the Photo Gallery and stay tuned for some video from the day!

Some More Feast Photos...

by: Brink | Friday, December 15, 2006

arto gun

Important disclaimer from etnies Team Manager, Uncle Clifford:

Guns are not toys. Guns are really sketchy. They kill people all the time. Skateboards, on the other hand, do not. And don't start smoking either.

And now, on with the report:

So, etnies staff photographer Oliver Barton flew into town and the clever people at the airport lost his camera equipment and he was all sad because he lives to take photos of skateboarding. To cheer him up, we took him out to shoot guns. Just so you know, Oliver had never touched a real gun in his life before and was a little hesitant...after all, guns are easy to use and very dangerous.

After about five minutes of quiet fear, he got quite into it and transformed from a mild-mannered English gentleman into a rootin' tootin' six shootin' cowboy and neutralized many paper enemies. So yeah, the shooting range is okay but Duck Hunt never killed no one, ever.

Check out some more photos in the gallery...

etnies Holiday Festival & Shoe Donation!

Ronnie handles the media at last year's festival.

Yes it’s that time of year again – when the etnies peeps come together to give of their time and joy for the third annual etnies Holiday Festival. We’ll be handing out about 500 pairs of shoes to less-fortunate Orange County kids that are in need of some shoes for the holidays. Last year, for some it was their first pair of etnies ever – for others it was the only present they would receive for the holidays. This event is an amazing experience to witness, so come out to the etnies Skatepark of Lake Forest if you can.

The festival is tomorrow, Friday, December 15th from 1:00 – 5:30 pm. There will be arts & craft tables for the kids. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be in the house! Ryan Sheckler, Ronnie Creager, Lauren Perkins, as well as some eS and Emerica pros will be skating the park and signing autographs for the kids. Please be aware that if you can make it down, the free etnies shoes are only for designated recipients and the skatepark will be closed off for them to enjoy their day, but you'll be able to hang out, watch the skating and meet the pros for sure!
