INAUGURAL “ARBY’S ACTION SPORTS AWARDS” TO PREMIERE ON FOX, SUNDAY, DECEMBER 10
The top action sports performances of the year will be honored at the inaugural Arby’s Action Sports Awards presented by FUEL TV, airing nationally on FOX, Sunday, December 10. The ceremony will bring together the biggest names in skateboarding, snowboarding, surfing, BMX, freestyle motocross and more along with dozens of celebrities from across the entertainment spectrum for one star-studded, high-flying show!
Winners will be determined by the combination of fan balloting and a panel of expert judges, then announced during taped ceremonies on November 30. FOX will air the show nationally on December 10, at 2:30 PM ET/PT or 4:30 PM ET/PT either preceding or following local NFL coverage that afternoon (check local listings).

Goofy Takes It Again!

GvR was insane this year. The Goofies did some serious ripping and with the help of Ronnie Creager, who ended up getting 5th, the Goofy team took it for the second year in a row. As always, Ronnie was killing it all weekend. So congrats, Ronnie! Stay tuned for tons of photos and footage Mr. Creager too!
In other GvR news, Sheckler was absolutely on fire, even on a broken board in the finals and ended up winning the Team Regular MVP award.

The Dew Action Sports Tour makes the fifth and final tour stop of its second season with the PlayStation Pro, today, October 12-15, at Orlando’s TD Waterhouse Centre. The five-city tour opened in Louisville in June and also included stops in Louisville, Denver, Portland and San Jose.

Another successful year of the etnies European Open has come and gone, with the last of the 2006 series held this past weekend in Rome, Italy. Coming away with the top honors in downtown Rome’s Stadio de Marmi was Germany’s Kilian Heuberger in Street, France’s Terrance Bougdour in Vert and etnies Girls’ Ianire Elorriaga from Spain in Women’s Street, with teammates Evelien Bouillart and Norway’s Kristina Westad completing the etnies sweep with second and third.

Last Stop of etnies European Open 2006!

The last stop of the 2006 etnies European Open will be taking off in Rome, Italy on October 6-8, 2006.
The Stadio dei Marmi in downtown Rome will be hosting both street and vert disciplines, with IOU-ramps in charge of the course and Red Bull providing an 18 meter vert-ramp for the international vert stars, including etnies’ own Rune Glifberg and etnies European rider Jürgen Horrwarth (Germany). In a bid to showcase their skills and win some of the 20,000 Euro prize purse, more than 100 competitors are expected for the street event alone.
The etnies European Open in Rome is the Final of the etnies European events, where the award of Europe’s 2006 Skateboarder of the Year in both street and vert will be announced, considering the results of the European Open in Rome, earlier in Munich, Germany and August’s European Skateboard Championships in Basel, Switzerland.
Already at the etnies European Open in Munich, 11-year-old Axel Cruysberghs from Belgium proved to be one of the candidates for the 2006 Skateboarder of the Year award, but names like Kilian Heuberger (Germany) and Phillipp Schuster (Austria), who placed 2nd and 3rd at the European Skateboard Championships, and ESC Basel top winner Alex Mizurov are all on the list for the title.
The etnies girl Push Jam will be on, as well, where the girls will also get awarded 2006’s European Skateboarder of the Year title, with etnies Girl riders Ianire Elorriaga (Spain) and Kristina Westad (Norway) topping the list.

The last big etnies event in Europe in 2006 is coming up on October 6-8th. The etnies European Open in the Stadio dei Marmi will be the last big happening for the European Skate scene before Fall kicks in. So pack your bags and head to Roma to witness one of the best skateboard events Italy has ever seen. A perfect streetcourse designed and built by IOU Ramps will be awaiting, as well as the amazing King Size Ramp by Red Bull.
