Another Email of the Week!
by: Brink | Wednesday, August 30, 2006

- This is me when I get 6 billion "free sticker" emails a day
I liked this email:
Hey, you guys have to know this by now, but what the hell, I'm gonna say it again. You're just pretty damn awesome. I don't mean to sound like a suck-up, but everything you guys do is killer, and you honestly have to be the best company on this planet. To get to the point, you rock, and I was hoping you could look around the place and see if you had an extra tee, or maybe a couple stickers, not much, just enough to represent you here in Beaverton. Technically this is a letter askin' for stuff, but I'm really just shooting for giving you guys some needed respect. If you can't send anything Im still gonna spread the word verbally, and do my personal best to get your name out there, so that more people can respect you like me.
Keepin it real,
Jaime R.
Hey Jamie, thanks a lot! We like you too. I had to fix a lot of typos though. Work on your spellcheckin' next time! ;)
And for all you 8 million kids a day emailing me about getting sponsored...I can't do it for you, but ifyou want a tip, put your video online and send me a link like this kid Phillip did, that way, if it is mindblowing, I can foward it to the right people, or at least post it here for the world to see and you can have your fifteen minutes of fame.
I'm hookin up these two gents with some free etnies stuff just for sendin me good emails on a Monday morning. How 'bout them apples?
P.S. Stop asking me for free stickers. I don't have any.

A big congrats to etnies gal Lauren Perkins for taking third place in Women's Street at Slam City Jam this past weekend.
Another shout out to etnies European team rider Juergen Horrwarth, who took first place in Vert this weekend in his hometown of Berlin, Germany at the LG Action Sports World Tour. In front of the historic Brandenburg Gate, Juergen hooked the crowed with backside 540s, backside smithgrinds, tailgrab 540s, kickflip mute grab, tailgrab 540s and McTwists. Juergen is more than a hometown hero, he’s a legend!

Also at the LG Tour, German etnies team rider Andreas Weigert from Bielfeld, Germany took second place in Street. Way to go, team!

Hubbas & Handrails # 4
by: Brink | Tuesday, August 22, 2006

- 1st and 2nd place. Topless Tyler and Erin. Sweatier, richer, happier.
Last Saturday, Tyler Hendley won etnies’ fourth best trick contest of 2006 in the Hubbas, Handrails & Stairs series at the etnies Skatepark of Lake Forest. Hendley’s kickflip nose slide nollie bigspin out on the big hubba ledge sealed his win, but homey was bustin' his usual array of bangers. Congrats Tyler! Enjoy your hundred bucks!

- Two of three well-respected, highly-esteemed judges...
Erin Flatley took second with switch backside 180s and kickflips down the 11-stair as well as a backside 5-0 down the hubba. This kid rips. I'm diggin him fo' sho'. Ben Ho claimed third by sticking front boards and backlips down the 11-stair.
Hubbas, Handrails & Stairs Best Trick Results:
1st – Tyler Hendley
2nd – Erin Flatley
3rd – Ben Ho
4th – Chris Brunner
5th – Chris Sidner

- This dude in the striped shirt wanted to be on the website really bad. He ollied the 11-stair and won $20

Wrapup! Best Trick #3!
by: Brink | Wednesday, August 16, 2006

- Will skate for cash!
A big congrats to Joseph Upton for winning etnies’ third Best Trick contest of 2006 last Saturday.
The skaters had 45 minutes to pull off tricks in the Flow Course to win cash prizes from etnies. The judges watched the session and chose the best trick, while handing out cash for landing random tricks called out over the mic during the contest. Dylan Witkin showed up sleepy-eyed, fresh out of bed and claimed second place and $80. Paco Amante casually snatched third place with a multitude of sweet manuevers.

- Pacoooooooooooooooo!
Upon collecting his cash, Upton thanked the judges and exclaimed, “Time for me to go, I’m late for work!” He then broke out of the park, quick fast in a hurry.
Best Trick Contest Results – Flow Course:
1st – Joseph Upton – $100
2nd – Dylan Witkin – $80
3rd – Paco Amante – $60

Elissa Threepeats! Perkins Gets Silver!
by: Brink | Saturday, August 5, 2006
- Elissa with the gold. Perkins with the silver. And Lacey Baker (on the left) with the bronze!
Elissa Steamer made more
X Games history on Saturday by winning her third-straight X Games Women's Skateboard Street gold medal!
"I didn't think I would pull it off," said Steamer of the win. "I kinda blew it on my first run, but I was able to work my way up in the jam session, where I just got real loose. The stairs got me the gold."
- The press lurks on Elissa after the finals!
Elissa's three-peat makes her the only woman to hang the Women's Skateboard Street gold medal around her neck. The event debuted at the X Games in 2004 and she's taken it every year. Congrats Elissa!
And futher props go to etnies Gal Lauren Perkins for taking the Silver medal! Go team go! Stay tuned for footage and more photos next week!
Sheck Gets Silver!!!!!
by: Brink | Friday, August 4, 2006
- Sheck's new bling!!!!!!
As if you had any doubts that Sheckler would come home without a medal...
Ryan Sheckler took the Silver with ease today in X Games Street. First try cab backlip down the rail, massive frontside flips over the hip, kickflips out of the hip over into the cycling track. (No it wasnt supposed to be part of the course, but the skaters hit it anyway.)

- Check out this limited edition etnies X Games Sheckler shoe Ryan was rockin' today!
Trick after trick after trick, Sheck was on point and ended up taking the silver medal. Congrats Sheck!
I'd write more but Vert best trick is about to go down...stay tuned for more updates tomorrow from the Girl's Street as well as tons of photos, video and more!
X Games Day 1!
by: Brink | Thursday, August 3, 2006
- Arto and Ty Evans share a moment
Day one at the X Games in LA and one thing is for damn sure...people are skating their friggin' asses off! For the second year in a row, Rune is competing with an injury. Last year it was messed up ribs, this year he's got a busted calf muscle. But he seriously killed it anyway...was chillin' in second place in the Vert contest today for a bit but eventually got knocked down to fifth. Not bad considering he can't hardly walk. Hopefully he will have enough ooomph in him to enter Big Air and Vert Best Trick too.
Arto was skating around the street prelims today sporting a new haircut. Unfortunatey that's the only cut he made. But he was ripping anyhow. Manly ollies and grabs over the hip, bluntslides on the ledges and such...good to see him back skating these events again...that knee surgery had him out of commish for a while.
- Rune's makeshift ice pack and new Forsvar shoes! Shhhhh, don't tell anyone I showed you this pic. These colors are top secret.
I know y'all are waiting to hear about Sheck. Damn right he made the cut and will be skating in the finals! Ryan was killing it all day. Ledges, stairs, rails, hips...you name it, he destroyed it...for those of you who haven't seen Ryan skate lately...his skills are just on another level...wait 'til his next video part.
That's all for now. Party time. Expect photos, video, podcasts and more updates as the X Games continues. Stay tuned!
- Sheck takes a well-deserved breather after the hubba/rail/stairs jam sesh.

Email of the Week!
by: Brink | Wednesday, August 2, 2006

- This is what I feel like when you ask me for stickers or to sponsor you!
Put up a new contact form last week. Most of you grubs just ask for free stickers and crap, and I just ignore that, 'cuz I can't give you free stickers. However, I like this email from James:
Ok now me and my friend have been wearing etnies for a while and we came up with the idea of subwoofer shoes. It may sound wierd but itd be the new fashion. The idea is that everytime you take a step it would do the "booom chh" like the Gate Crasher man beat? Think about it. It'd be pretty cool.
Right on James, get busy inventing that one!
Oh, and maybe since y'all can help each other out with blog comments, have a look-see at this one from John who is 9 years old and offer your advice:
We love your shoes! I have my skate shoes, and would like to know how to "straight lace" my shoes. Can you help?
