On June 21, Go Skateboarding Day, the skaters of Lebanon, PA. were out skating the town to raise awareness about Skateboarding and to celebrate Go Skateboarding Day. It was during their cruise around town, on public streets & sidewalks that over 30 of them were stopped by the police and issued over $10,000 in fines ($300 per skater).
They were not on private property and they were not doing tricks, they were simply cruising around town enjoying their sport.

Celebrate Go Skateboarding Day at the etnies Skatepark of Lake Forest!
In celebration of Go Skateboarding Day on June 21, etnies is hosting an all-day event at the etnies Skatepark of Lake Forest. In addition to non-stop skateboarding the event will feature a barbeque, death races and giveaways from etnies, Flip, Baker, Birdhouse, Fury and Hook-ups.

The Forsvar!

The Forsvar is the second etnies shoe designed by Rune Glifberg, and it will hit stores for holiday 06. Its mission: To raise awareness for a community in Denmark that’s facing extinction – Christiania.
Forsvar is the Danish word for “defend.” Since 1971, Christiania, a neighborhood in the Danish capital of Copenhagen, has existed as the only self-governing independent community existing inside another government in Denmark, and possibly the world. The people of Christiania have supported youth and skateboarding from the beginning, and have their own set of rules that promote a more peaceful, healthy and environmental approach to life. In 2004, the Danish government claimed Christiania was only a “social experiment” and passed a law abolishing the collective. Images of Christiania cover the Forsvar’s custom shoebox, and the story of the community is printed on the bottom.
“I feel like I’m in a position to raise awareness and tell people about Christiania,” said Rune Glifberg. “And doing that through the Forsvar shoe with etnies is the best way I can help and take action in the preserving of Christiania – it’s a concept that all of society can learn a lot from. Without a place like Christiania the world becomes too uniform – everything feels the same.”

Elissa Steamer Zero Press Release!

You heard it here first two weeks ago, but here's the official scoop on Elissa Steamer from Zero:
Black Box Distribution is proud to announce the addition of professional skateboarder Elissa Steamer to the Zero team. Since her debut part, in the 1996 video Welcome to Hell, Elissa has proven herself time and time again.
Elissa currently resides in San Francisco and will be traveling non-stop while filming for a Zero promo video as well as the upcoming etnies video. The release date of Elissa’s first Zero pro model board has yet to be determined.
Jamie Thomas says of the addition; “Elissa’s raw approach to life and skateboarding is a perfect fit for Zero. It’s like a reunion of sorts, I enjoyed working with her when filming Welcome to Hell and I’m psyched to get the chance to work with her again. I think she’s the raddest girl to ever ride a skateboard.”
